Food Processing & Agriculture Business

Food processing and agriculture are a natural choice of india. India is a hugeproducer of several form product - ranging from rice and wheat to tea,vegitables, fruits & milk. However India clearly lacks the necessary know how to maintain the food chain - from the farms to the kitchens. A very larg chunk of indian food become spoilt and unfit for consumption during this simple and short journey due to lack of the necessary infrastructure and knowledge.
India is already a global agricultural powerhouse. it is the World's top producers of milk, fruits, pulses, tea second largest producers of rice, wheat. India is also largest producers of cotton, sugar, jute & spices.
All these acivement are even more impresive when one considers that the indian agriculture system has hardly change over the last two millennia. Most farmer own small plats, which they cultivate with the help of farm animals use bassic tools and depend upon the monsoons for irrigation and pray the god.
Although some states notable Punjab, Haryana, Uttar O\Pradesh, Maharashtra & Gujrat are seeing modernistion of the farm tractors, drip irrigation and chemical fertilisers.
A new trend is the entry of carporates into the business of farming and food processing like H.L.L, I.T.C, Reliance ect.
The entry of carporates and the rapedly changing global situation have brought about another key change biotechnology development in farming.
India now has biotech crops under development. These cotton, cauliflower, cabbage, groundnut, pea, potato, chilli & tomato.
Another area which is getting a lot of attention inindia is organic farming. the government has identified it as a major thrust area in the current five-year plan.
The major organic products sold in the global markets include dried fruits & nyts, cocoa, soices, harbs, oil crops & derived products.
